Dr. Mary Otieno

Dr.  Mary Oriento is currently the United Nations Population Fund (UN FPA) Country Representative in Zambia. Dr. Otieno joined UNFPA in 2005 as Emergency Coordinator in Sudan and thereafter as Senior Technical Advisor, HIV/AIDS at UNFPA Headquarters in New York. Before joining UNFPA, Dr. Otieno worked for the International Rescue Committee and the International Medical Corps in the United States as Senior Technical Adviser, Reproductive health and HIV; and Director of the Health Unit respectively. Prior to that, she also worked for  the University of Michigan and the Ministry of Planning and National Development in Kenya. Dr. Otieno has over 20 years of experience in international health and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology; a Master of Arts in Demography; a Master of Arts in Public Health; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
