Njoki Sandra Kamuyu

Njoki Sandra Kamuyu began teaching in 1971 in Detroit Public Schools as a classroom teacher.  After moving to Kenya she taught English Language and Literature to visually impaired secondary school students at Thika School for the Blind-Kenya.  After obtaining her M.A. Degree in Special Education at Eastern Michigan University she returned to Kenya to train teachers at Highridge Teachers College and at the Kenya Institute of Special Education where she was Dean of Studies and head of Department-Visually Impaired.    After returning to Michigan after 17 years in Kenya, Njoki  was a Teacher Consultant at Chapelle Elementary in Ypsilanti and at Cheney Academy of Mathematics and Science in Willow Run.  She retired from Willow Run Community Schools in 2013 and currently serves as a Field Instructor in the School of Education at the University of Michigan.
